The amount of plastic wrap used to protect a sandwich might seem tiny when you scrunch it up into a ball and throw it away, but think about how much plastic wrap you go through each year. Now think of millions of households that do the same. Where does it end up? 

Well approximately 32 million tons of plastic waste are generated annually, the truth is these tiny balls of plastic end up in our oceans, landfill and being picked up by our marine and wild life and are causing serious damage. Scientists estimate that every square mile of ocean contains approximately 46,000 pieces of plastic floating in it - not to mention the hundreds of chemicals which are released into your food - especially when heated. 

Plastic wrap is made of polyvinyl chloride or PVC and contains a “plasticizer” called DEHA. DEHA migrates from plastic wrap into food—particularly high fat foods such as cheese and meat. Plastic wrap should NOT be microwaved and should NOT be placed over hot or warm food.
