3 Tips for Elastic Nipple

Having elastic nipples may make pumping feel daunting for you. Here are 3 tips for you to work around this.

Remember, everyone is built differently and you are always enough in your ways. Don't give up Mama!

Flange Size

It is important to get the correct flange size.  Some sources may recommend a bigger size but this can cause more of the areola and nipple to be sucked in causing more damage.

Measure your nipple (not areola) from end to end and add 4mm to find your flange size.

Pump Setting

Start from a low level suction setting as elastic nipples tend to be sucked in deeper.

A higher level setting will cause the nipples to be sucked in more, likely compressing milk ducts resulting in inefficient milk flow.  This will lead to engorgement as milk is not emptied well.

Extra Support

Hand massage or having a massager while you pump helps with milk flow hence it can take some stress off the nipples.

Pump spray can elevate some friction for a smoother pump session too.

Recommendation

Horigen double pump is compact and comes with a range of suction levels to choose from.

Their liquid flanges have been known to be comfortable.

Having elastic nipples may make finding the suitable breast pump a challenge, hence Horigen double pump’s price point makes it a great pump for trying out.
