The Haakaa Silicone Colostrum Collector is a world-first design, giving mums the option to express colostrum antenatally and postnatally in a safe, easy-to-use way with convenient storage. 

 

Our collector is made of 100% medical grade silicone. Compared to traditional single-use syringes often made from harmful plastics, it won't leach nasty toxins and can be safely stored in the fridge or freezer. It is also pre-sterilised, so mums can open it and use it right away. It's easy-to-use and reusable, making it the ideal option for mums both before and after birth!

How to use: 

**Check that the collector has been sterilised within the last 12 months from the sterilisation date printed on the outside of each packet. If it has been more than 12 months since the date of sterilisation or has previously been used before, re-sterilise it before use. 

 

• Collection: 

Nib: Squeeze the collector body and use the suction to draw colostrum drops from your nipple straight into the collector. 

OR

Opening: Remove the nib. Express directly into the collector body. 

 

• Store: 

1. Cap the collector. 

2. Label the collector with date & time of expression. 

3. Store it in your fridge or freezer following health organisation guidelines with regards to safe storage of colostrum. 

 

• Feed: 

1. Warm colostrum by running the collector under warm water or placing it in a warm water bath under it reaches room temperature. 

2. Remove nib and drop-feed into the corner of your baby’s mouth. 

3. Use all the colostrum in the collector for 1 feed. Discard any left over colostrum. 

 

Cleaning & Care:

Sterilised collectors can be used upon opening. 

If collectors are opened more than 12 months after the date of sterilisation or have previously been used for feeding/collecting, it must be re-sterilised before being used. 

Clean after each use. This product can be sterilised with any steam steriliser or by boiling in water for 2-3 minutes. 

Do not use any bleach-based agents, sterilising tablets or UV sterilisers as it may cause damage to the product. We recommend using the Haakaa Dish Soap. 

 

CAUTION:

PLEASE NOTE: Ensure clearance from your health professional prior to antenatal expressing as there may be a risk of early labour. 

It is advisable to use only soft bristle brushes or sponges to clean this product. Hard scourers may scratch the surface. Store it in a cool, dry place, away from sharp objects and direct sunlight. Please follow health organisation guidelines with regards to safe storage of colostrum.
