The Haakaa Silicone Colostrum Collector is a world-first design, giving mums the option to express colostrum antenatally and postnatally in a safe, easy-to-use way with convenient storage. 

 

Our collector is made of 100% medical grade silicone. Compared to traditional single-use syringes often made from harmful plastics, it won't leach nasty toxins and can be safely stored in the fridge or freezer. It is also pre-sterilised, so mums can open it and use it right away. It's easy-to-use and reusable, making it the ideal option for mums both before and after birth!

How to use: 

**Check that the collector has been sterilised within the last 12 months from the sterilisation date printed on the outside of each packet. If it has been more than 12 months since the date of sterilisation or has previously been used before, re-sterilise it before use. 

 

Collection: 

Nib: Squeeze the collector body and use the suction to draw colostrum drops from your nipple straight into the collector OR

Opening: Remove the nib. Express directly into the collector body OR

Cup: Collect your expressed colostrum using the feeding cup (available in 6pcs feeding pack only)

 

Store: 

1. Cap the collector. 

2. Label the collector with date & time of expression. 

3. Store it in your fridge or freezer following health organisation guidelines with regards to safe storage of colostrum. 

 

Feed: 

1. Warm colostrum by running the collector under warm water or placing it in a warm water bath under it reaches room temperature. 

2. Remove nib and drop-feed into the corner of your baby’s mouth. 

3. Use all the colostrum in the collector for 1 feed. Discard any left over colostrum. Alternatively, measure out your desired amount of colostrum into the sterilised feeding cup and feed using the raised feeding end.

 

Silicone Measuring & Feeding Cup Features (*available in 6pcs feeding pack only):

• Made of pre-sterilised 100% medical-grade silicone, so no plastic touches your liquid gold
• Has a soft, flexible rim that gently conforms to baby's tiny mouth and minimizes spills during feeding
• Extension of usage as a medication cup or measurement cup.

Benefit of Cup Feeding (*available in 6pcs feeding pack only):

• Cup feeding is an alternative way to feed infants when they are unable to feed directly at the breast and when bottle feeding items cannot be cleaned properly.
• Cup feeding may be beneficial for babies who get gassy or colicky from bottle-feeding
• Cup feeding can be used with babies of all ages and is also safe for premature and many ill babies.

Cleaning & Care:

Each Colostrum Collector and Cup comes pre-sterilised. Please check date of sterilisation printed on the outside of each packet. Colostrum Collectors can be used immediately if opened within 24 months of pre-sterilisation. The Silicone Cup can be used immediately if opened within 6 months of date of sterilisation. If opening packet after these dates, please resterilise before use. Wash before re-use by hand washing with warm, soapy water and rinsing thoroughly. To sterilise after subsequent use, use a steam steriliser or boil in water for 2-3 minutes. Only soft bristle brushes or soft sponges should be used to clean this product, as hard scourers may scratch the surface. Do not use bleach-based agents to clean this product. Store product in a cool, dry place and avoid direct sunlight.

Volume measurements are an approximation and should be used for general reference only. Ensure clearance from your health professional prior to antenatal expressing as there may be a risk of early labour. Always follow your country's guidelines on expressing and storing breastmilk safely, ensuring you have labelled your collectors with your name, date and time of expressing for easy identification.

• Check product condition regularly and replace if it shows any signs of damage.
• If Colostrum Collector or Feeding Cup packets show signs of damage before opening, please sterilise prior to use according to instructions listed.
• For your child's safety, never attach product to cords, ribbons, laces or loose parts of clothing, as it can become wrapped around their neck.
• Do not store near any sharp objects.
• This product is not a toy. Do not use this product for anything other than its intended use.
• Keep out of the reach of children and pets when not in use.
• Do not fill above top measurement mark as contents may expand when frozen.
• Do not squeeze the cup when measuring liquids; always keep the cup placed on a flat surface while measuring.
• Feed your baby small amounts at a time and never pour large quantities of liquid into your baby's mouth using the cup.
